Besides a high quality circuit breaker, Audio Power uses fast acting metal oxide varistors or MOVs to shield equipment from damaging surges. In the event of a large surge or lightning strike, the MOV will burn up. This puts an air gap into the circuit to prevent the surge from reaching attached equipment. After such a surge, the unit must be returned to Audio Power Industries for evaluation and repair.
