This means there is no room for an additional isolation transformer. Since all the Ultra Wedges require the filter, it is easier and more cost effective to build the amplifier outlets into all the Ultra Wedges. For the same reason we do not make a Ultra Wedge with just isolated outlets. To do so would require a completely new chassis which would have a section of blank metal as large as the existing amplifier section. The cost of providing four outlets is far less than the cost of designing and maintaining a completely separate inventory of parts. An Ultra Wedge with all isolated outlets would be the same size as the current Ultra Wedges and would cost the same or more. Finally, the growth of home theater has resulted in the demand for even more amplifier outlets. Many people now require more than the four outlets offered on most of the Ultra Wedges. Unlike the isolated outlets, you can extend the amplifier outlets with a high quality power strip as long as the total wattage is not exceeded.
